- Students are introduced to the celebratory aspects of home, family, synagogue and community. They also discuss notions of God. Students learn a Hebrew letter via a key word. In addition parents are invited to actively become partners through a series of send-home folders.
- Students learn about the major stories of Genesis including: Creation, The Garden of Eden, Cain and Abel, Noah’s Ark, The Tower of Babel and Abraham and Sarah.
- Along with discussing lessons from the stories, the children participate in activities to bring the lessons alive. In learning these stories, the students also learn mitzvot such as kindness to animals (ta’ar ba’alei chayim) and hachnasat orchim (welcoming guests).
