Finding the right early childhood program can be confusing and overwhelming. What is it you want your child to gain being in preschool?

The following is a list of some ideas to help you navigate the best program choice for your child and your family.

 Are the teachers highly qualified?
 Do they like children? (It seems like a silly question, but it really isn’t.)
 Are the teachers nurturing and caring?
 Do they participate in ongoing professional development?
 Is the student-teacher ratio small?
 Are the classes developmentally appropriate for young children?
 Is there open communication between the teachers and parents?
 Are the classrooms clean and orderly?
 Does the school promote positive relationships with the children and the families?
 Are the children engaged, learning, comfortable, and happy?
 Is there ample free choice/play time for children to work on life skills, problem solving skills, and brain development?
 Are the needs of the children socially, cognitively, physically, and emotionally being met?
 Is there outdoor—or a large indoor—space for the children to run and develop their large motor skills?
 Does your child have to be toilet trained? (Here they don’t have to be.)
 Are family relationships and belonging to a community encouraged?
 Have the children gained a sense of pride in belonging to the Jewish community, excited by the holidays, doing mitzvot and learning Jewish values?

I hope this checklist helps you know that the ECC is the BEST place for your child/children. We work hard on achieving all the above and more. Please feel free to contact me, so we can talk about why we want to welcome you to be a part of the ECC family/community. I look forward to hearing from you.
