We are so excited with the arrival of four baby snails for our classroom. These were gifted to many Jewish preschools in the Chicagoland area from the Early Childhood Department of Jewish Federation, with which I am involved.
Our study is just beginning, as we will be investigating, learning, reading, and acting out all things snails. (No, they are not kosher for eating!)
The yeladim (children) are so happy about this addition to our school. In just a short time we have learned about why snails leave a trail of slime, what they eat, that their tongues have teeth on them, about their habitat/environment, that they have tentacles that work as feelers, and the two big feelers are eyes.
In the warm weather, our yeladim not only dig up worms in the playground, but have also found baby snails out there too. This will be an amazing unit for all of us to study.
Applications for the 2019-2020 school year are now available online, in Lucy’s office, or from me. We would love to have your child/grandchildren be a part of our fabulous school. Enroll them now, as they will learn and grow with us in a warm and loving school where their emotional, social, and cognitive needs are met.
