After the Exodus of the Israelites from slavery, they made it safely across the Sea of Reeds. Fourth grade is learning all about this next step in their journey. Once they’ve reached freedom, Moses feels overwhelmed by the need to help everyone all the time. The class brainstormed ways that he could have solved this problem - by delegating his work, teaching people to compromise or setting boundaries for problem solving.
Next, we learned about the Ten Commandments passed down to the Israelites from G-d, through Moses. The students illustrated each commandment in a drawing, while the rest of the class had to guess which one they were talking about. They also did a writing exercise where they had to choose a commandment that they follow every day in their own lives, and write about how it applies to them. Have a wonderful winter break and a great Hanukkah!
