Adult Ed Program - Film: The Levys of Monticello:

The Levys of Monticello is a documentary film that tells the little-known story of the Levy family, which owned and carefully preserved Monticello for nearly a century – far longer than Jefferson or his descendants.

The remarkable story of the Levy family also intersects with the rise of antisemitism that runs throughout the course of American history.

Security Update from Beth Tikvah Congregation:
Dear Members of the Congregation,

I hope this message finds you in good health, though our spirits have been shaken by the tragic events unfolding in Israel. As we pray for the safety and well being of the people of Israel, it is also essential that we remain steadfast in our commitment to ensuring the safety of our beloved Beth Tikvah community. We are writing today to communicate some of the measures we are taking here at Beth Tikvah.

We are working with our security partners in law enforcement to continually monitor the situation to ensure we are taking the necessary steps. At this time we have been assured that there are no credible threats at other Jewish communities across the country, our state, or to our congregation. Despite this, you may see an additional police presence in our parking lot and the area by both the Hoffman Estates Police Department and the Cook County Sheriff’s Department. Do not be alarmed; this is being done in an abundance of caution as standard procedure by law enforcement. 

It is essential that all of us remain aware of our surroundings and diligent in our security protocols at all times; not just at Beth Tikvah, but in general. Please remember to bring your Beth Tikvah key tag and/or Religious School lanyard with you when entering the building for any reason. If you are in need of an additional key tag, contact Lisa at office@beth-tikvah.org.

Additionally, we are now requiring that all visitors and members entering the building during the regular business hours of Mon - Fri, 9 - 5pm, check in at the main office. There will be a sign in/out book there on the front counter for you to use. This is an extra precaution for us, as well as for your safety, and will allow us to know who is in the building and who has left. Please help us by remembering to sign in and out.

Please remember if you see something suspicious or concerning, say something to clergy, a staff member, or other congregational leadership.
