In January we started our unit on the Jewish value of Achrayut, responsibility. We discussed the Hebrew expression bal tashchit, the prohibition of wasting resources in nature.Students generated different actions they can take that will have a positive effect on the environment such as bringing a refillable water bottle to religious school. Our second lesson centered around the balance between being responsible for ourselves and others. How far do we need to go to fulfill our achrayut to others?
