God could not be everywhere, so God created mothers.Â
-Leopold Kompert, Bohemian Jewish writer (1822–1886)   Â
Our love, affection and appreciation for moms remains as strong as ever, especially now. For many, the hero of the family during the past weeks at home. And for those whose mothers are sheltering in place from distances, our phone calls and virtual visits are a constant reminder of their courage and strength. The fond memories of our moms from years past seem even more vibrant at this time. This Shabbat before Mother’s Day we reflect on the many blessings bestowed by our own mothers. These amazing women are truly our blessing. We rejoice in the mothers in our lives and the mothers in our midst. We celebrate their expressions of love and care that make us strong. We ask God to watch over them and strengthen their hands so that more love may flourish in the world. We honor our mothers by living a life of goodness and kindness, just as they themselves modeled and inspire us all.
Happy Mother’s Day! Â
May God bless you and keep you. May you be blessed with a week of peace.   Shabbat Shalom, Rabbi Taron Tachman                               rabbi@beth-tikvah.org
